Its "excellent" Midtown location "a five-minute walk to Grand Central" is the best thing about this "arty" holdover that's best for those "just looking for a place to sleep"; the "small" rooms are each uniquely decorated to feel like a "New England"–style "bed-and-breakfast in the middle of the city", but with all that "quaintness" comes "antiquated televisions", "weak" (but free) WiFi and bathrooms that are "subpar."

Helpful staff and wonderful value for New York.

Amazing staff, bar / restaurant closes a kind early. Very clean and well air conditioned. Good size room for New York. Location was central to many things.

The makeup mirror.
Only one of the two tiny elevators was working and I felt cramped.

I think this hotel meets the basic criteria that I needed: Good location, free wireless, restaurant that's open early for breakfast, comfortable bed. My one issue was that everything seemed old. It was supposed to be quaint, but mostly it just felt like the owners failed to update the furniture, bathroom, and decor. It wasn't too bad, felt like I was visiting an aunt or something event though I was on business trip. There's a certain coziness about it, but not what I would come to expect from a Manhattan hotel. ...read more

The employees in the lobby were very friendly.

This hotel was wonderful. The employees we met there were the kindest I have encountered at most businesses.

The location of this hotel to Metro, buses, Grand Central station was close but required 5-10 minutes walking.
The room is small for the price of the hotel. This hotel looks more like a 2-2.5 star hotel and a 3 star hotel.

The room is very small. Elevators are also very small. Location is good but do require some walking 5-10 minutes from Grand Central, subway but convenient.

Nothing.
Everything.

The room was small and everything inside was old and it had a bad smell in the room the air conditioner was very loud. I won't stay there ever again or recommend the hotel to others. The employee at the front door was also never there to help open the doors when we came in and out with all our luggage. ...read more

Good ultimate customer service
Initial room assignment un acceptable

The room I received upon check in was disgusting! It was late, I was tied and just crashed. The next morning, the bathroom was horrible, filthy, moldy, bad plumbing. After some serious discussions with management, they moved me to a diffrent room that was stunning...It had to be aver 1000 square feet! Wonderful suite. ...read more

Huge room by New York city standards!

Our room was significantly larger than any other New York City hotel room I've stayed in. The rooms are designed more like a bed and breakfast with unique charm. We had a wonderful stay here and highly recommend this hotel. ...read more
